Jawab al-Sahih li-man baddala din al-Masih(part 5)

""Al-Jawab al-Sahih liman baddala dina al-Masih" (The Correct Answer to Those Who Altered the Religion of Christ) by Sheikh al-Islam Ahmad ibn Abd al-Halim ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728 AH) is considered one of the most comprehensive, profound and definitive Islamic works engaging with Christian doctrines and refuting them. It remains a foundational reference in the field of comparative religion. Written as a thorough scholarly response to a treatise received from the Christians of Cyprus, the book centers on critical theological debates including monotheism, the Trinity and the Crucifixion. It validates the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ using both rational arguments and textual evidence, extensively drawing from Torah and Gospel texts to highlight biblical prophecies foretelling his coming and to address historical distortions in theological interpretations."

"Al-Jawab al-Sahih liman baddala dina al-Masih" by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah stands as an monumental milestone in Islamic literature, establishing a rigorous scientific methodology that dismantles Christian theological discourses through a masterful synthesis of rational logic, historical analysis and shared scriptural texts. Throughout its extensive volumes, the author delivers a profound philosophical and theological critique of the terminology employed by Christian theologians regarding the Divine essence such as the concepts of "substance" (jawhar) and "hypostases" (aqanim) refuting them from linguistic, logical and canonical perspectives. Ibn Taymiyyah meticulously systematically disproves Jewish and Christian assertions regarding the self-sufficiency of their previous dispensations, presenting multiple facets that argue for the absolute perfection of Islamic law, the universality of Muhammad’s ﷺ message and the virtues of the Muslim Ummah as a balanced nation. A substantial portion of the work is dedicated to tracing and analyzing biblical prophecies from the Old and New Testaments as definitive proofs of Muhammad’s ﷺ prophethood. This includes an in-depth commentary on the prophecies of David in the Psalms, the various prophecies in the Book of Isaiah such as the notable prediction of the "rider of the donkey and the rider of the camel" and descriptions pertaining to Mecca alongside scriptural references from other prophets like Daniel, Ezekiel and Habakkuk, correcting alternative interpretations. Beyond textual proofs from prior scriptures, the author elaborates on independent signs of prophethood and definitive evidence of the Messenger's ﷺ truthfulness. He explores the multi-faceted miraculous nature of the Quran, examines the vast diversity of prophetic miracles and clarifies the conceptual distinctions between miracles (mu'jizah), signs (ayah) and saintly marvels (karamah). Ultimately, he concludes that the very character of the Prophet ﷺ, the perfection of his law, the continued marvels manifested through the righteous of his nation and the historical transmission of his immaculate attributes altogether form a living, coherent and undeniable proof of his divine mission.
