A Summary of Islamic Jurisprudence (Part1)

""A Summary of Islamic Jurisprudence" by Dr. Ṣâliḥ Al-Fawzân is a comprehensive and accessible jurisprudential guide designed to explain the rulings of acts of worship ('Ibadat) and transactions (Mu'amalat) in Islamic Law according to the methodology of Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jamâ'ah. Focusing on the most weightier opinions backed by evidence from the Qur’an and the Sunnah, this first volume serves as an essential and ideal reference for modern Muslims and non-Arabic speaking students seeking to learn the practical rulings of purification, hygiene and prayer in a clear and direct manner."

"A Summary of Islamic Jurisprudence" by His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ṣâliḥ Ibn Fawzân Al-Fawzân member of the Council of Senior Scholars and the Permanent Committee for Fatwa and Research in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is considered one of the most prominent and important contemporary jurisprudence references that presents Islamic Fiqh in a simplified, modern and direct manner. Translated into English, it serves as a valuable scientific and jurisprudential resource for non-Arabic speaking Muslims and students worldwide. This first volume primarily focuses on the fundamental rulings of worship ('Ibadat) that every Muslim needs in daily life, adhering to the approach of Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jamâ'ah by prioritizing opinions supported by explicit evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah without entering into complex scholastic disputes. In its first chapter, the book covers the rulings of purification in detail, including types of water, removal of impurities, etiquette of answering the call of nature, acts of natural disposition (fitrah), as well as the rules of ablution (wudu), its nullifiers, wiping over leather socks (khuffs), dry ablution (tayammum), ritual bathing (ghusl), and natural blood conditions such as menses and postnatal bleeding. The second chapter is dedicated to the rulings of prayer (salah), beginning with its obligation, virtues, prescribed times, the call to prayer (adhan and iqamah), conditions, essential elements, obligatory acts, recommended practices, detested actions, and invalidators. It also details the rulings of the prostrations of forgetfulness, recitation, and gratitude, post-prayer remembrances (dhikr), voluntary and supererogatory prayers such as Witr, Tarawih, Sunnah Mu'akkadah and Duha, alongside comprehensive rules regarding congregational prayer, the position and duties of the Imam, women's attendance in mosques, and guidelines for latecomers. This makes the book an all-encompassing educational guide that combines sound textual evidence with clarity of expression and a strong connection between legal rulings and their spiritual and behavioral objectives.
