Al Itibaa and The Principles of Fiqh of The Righteous Predecessors
"The book is a profound fundamental study that addresses the concept of "Al Ittibaa" (following the Prophetic precedent) in Islam and its necessity. It adopts the correct methodology for receiving and understanding the religion as practiced by the Companions and their successors (the Tabiun). The book reviews the journey of humanity since the beginning of creation and the sending of messengers leading up to the methods of acquiring Sharia knowledge with a focus on the foundational principles that governed jurisprudence (Fiqh) and legal rulings (Fatwa) among the Pious Predecessors (Salaf). This makes it an important reference for illustrating the moderation and authenticity of the Islamic approach."
The book "AlIttibaa and the Principles of Fiqh" of the Salaf provides a comprehensive and organized presentation of the methodology of following the Prophetic precedent in Islam. It begins by establishing the concept through an overview of the wisdom behind the creation of humanity and the sending of messengers while shedding light on the state of the world before the mission of the Prophet ﷺ and how the Companions received the religion directly from him as the ideal model for emulation and commitment. The book also delves deeply into the methodology of the first generation in dealing with jurisprudential differences and monitors the transformations that occurred in the Ummah after the "Best Generations" emphasizing the necessity of adhering to the foundations when innovations arise. Furthermore it expands on the explanation of the "Fiqh of the Salaf" the obligation of seeking knowledge the divisions of jurisprudence and the basic rules upon which scholars built their legal inferences. A significant portion of the book is dedicated to the regulations of issuing fatwas clarifying the duties of both the questioner and the mufti and the necessity of seeking the most preponderant and evidence based opinion while providing a thorough review of the ethics and manners of the mufti in dealing with contemporary issues and differing views. It concludes as a rigorous academic work that combines historical narrative with precise jurisprudential grounding.
