"My First Step in Islam"
My First Step in Islam
"This is an instructional and educational guide in Spanish tailored for new Muslims or those interested in learning about Islam. The book aims to simplify the core pillars of the Islamic faith, starting from how to embrace Islam and pronounce the Shahadah (the testimony of faith), moving through an explanation of the six pillars of Iman (belief) and the practical pillars of Islam such as prayer, Zakat, fasting and Hajj and concluding with the daily manners and ethics that a Muslim should embody. It is characterized by its gradual and practical approach, accompanying the new Muslim through their very first steps."
This book, addressed in Spanish to new Muslims, provides a comprehensive and gradual guide that begins with an introduction explaining how to embrace Islam and pronounce the Shahadah, along with a detailed explanation of the testimony "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" outlining its conditions, meanings, and the implications of the second testimony. It then transitions to the six pillars of faith and the virtues of believing in each, starting with belief in Allah, the angels, the divine books and the messengers including a dedicated section introducing Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and leading up to belief in the Last Day and divine decree (Qada' and Qadar). The book also dedicates an essential practical section to teaching daily worship and the rules of purification, explaining the full ritual bath (Ghusl), ablution (Wudu'), and dry ablution (Tayammum). Furthermore, it details the rulings of prayer, its timings, conditions and how to perform it step-by-step, alongside voluntary prayers and the times when prayer is disliked. This accessible jurisprudential explanation extends to cover the other pillars of Islam, such as the rulings, virtues and recipients of Zakat, as well as how to observe fasting in Ramadan and perform the rituals of Hajj. The book does not limit itself to jurisprudential rituals it also clarifies the comprehensive concept of worship and its psychological and social impacts, reviewing the most important Islamic commands, recommendations and prohibitions to avoid. The guide concludes its chapters by providing the reader with a set of daily Islamic supplications and manners, ending with a "brotherly advice" section that offers moral support and motivation to the Muslim at the beginning of their spiritual journey.
