"THE BOOK OF (SIYAAM) FASTING"
THE BOOK OF (SIYAAM) FASTING
"The Book of (Siyaam) Fasting is a simplified and translated jurisprudential guide into English, extracted from the writings of Sheikh Muhammad b. Ibraheem At-Tuwaijry, with commentary and translation by Sheikh Mahmoud b. Ridha Murad. The book presents the rulings of fasting, its conditions, invalidators and pillars based on the methodology of "jurisprudence of evidence" (Fiqh ad-Dalil), which connects rulings directly to the Holy Quran and the authentic Sunnah. Characterized by its clarity and high focus, this book serves as an ideal reference for English-speaking Muslims (especially in Western societies), expatriates and new Muslims, helping them understand and practice the act of fasting correctly according to Islamic Sharia."
The Book of (Siyaam) Fasting comes to fulfill an urgent need among English-speaking Muslims around the world. It is originally a chapter extracted from the comprehensive jurisprudential works of the renowned Saudi scholar and preacher, Sheikh Muhammad b. Ibraheem At-Tuwaijry. This material was selected to be presented in an independent book that is easy to distribute and read before and during the holy month of Ramadan. The book is based on the methodology of "jurisprudence of evidence" (Fiqh ad-Dalil), which focuses on providing the reader with the Islamic ruling accompanied by its direct evidence from the Holy Quran or authentic Prophetic Hadiths, completely steering away from complex sectarian details or lengthy scholarly disputes that might distract non-specialist readers. The book covers all aspects related to the worship of fasting through organized chapters, including the ruling and virtues of fasting, the conditions for its obligation and validity, the permissible excuses for breaking the fast, and a precise clarification of its invalidators, Sunnahs, and recommended acts, in addition to the rulings of Itikaf (seclusion in the mosque), the night prayers of Ramadan (Tarawih), Zakat al-Fitr and the Eid prayer. What specifically elevates the value of this edition is the work of the Canadian translator and researcher, Mahmoud b. Ridha Murad, who rendered the material into English in a smooth style tailored to Western mindsets and Muslims living abroad. He complemented his translation with explanatory commentary and footnotes that clarify precise jurisprudential terms, blending the accuracy of the author's scholarly content with the clarity of the translator's expression to deliver a comprehensive and practical guide.
