Guidance For Fasting Muslims

""Guidance for Fasting Muslims" is a concise and simplified jurisprudential guide authored by the eminent scholar, Shaikh Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Uthaimin. This book aims to provide English-speaking Muslims with the essential and necessary rulings regarding the worship of fasting. It covers everything from its definition and significance as one of the five pillars of Islam, to its conditions of obligation and daily jurisprudential rulings, presented in an accessible and direct manner suitable for every Muslim."

"Guidance for Fasting Muslims" serves as a concise instructional reference authored by Shaikh Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Uthaimin (may Allah have mercy on him). It is designed to be a practical guide that helps English-speaking Muslims understand the worship of fasting and its jurisprudence in a correct and simplified manner, free from lengthy jurisprudential complexities. The book opens by clarifying the devotional and legal concept of Siyam (fasting) as an act of obedience and submission to Allah Almighty, defined by abstaining from key nullifiers such as food, drink and sexual relations from dawn until sunset. It also establishes the importance and status of fasting, citing the prophetic tradition: "Islam is built on five...", demonstrating that fasting during the holy month of Ramadan is a fundamental pillar without which a servant's Islam and the foundations of their faith remain incomplete. Furthermore, the book outlines the rulings and conditions that make fasting obligatory, detailing the jurisprudential rules that require a Muslim to fast, such as reaching puberty, being of sound mind, physical capability and residency. This helps readers precisely understand their religious duties as well as the valid exemptions for breaking the fast. Characterized by its direct and clear style, this book serves as an excellent educational and dawah material for Islamic offices and centers catering to expatriate Muslim communities, ensuring they perform this great act of worship in the proper manner that pleases Allah.
