Muhammad in the Bible

"This is a methodological, research-based book that reviews the prophecies and glad tidings mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel that point to the advent of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Relying on a calm, logical and scientific approach, the author establishes clear criteria for accepting and analyzing biblical texts. He then discusses the lineage of the "awaited prophet" from the descendants of Abraham and Ishmael (peace be upon them), exploring prophesied attributes such as being a prophet like unto Moses. Ultimately, the book demonstrates how these historical and textual descriptions perfectly align with the life and character of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)."

Dr. Jamal Badawi’s book, "Muhammad in the Bible" stands out for its scientific and methodological approach in discussing the glad tidings and prophecies within the Torah and the Gospel that foretell the advent of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The author begins by establishing an academic framework with objective criteria for examining and accepting biblical texts, linking this to the Qur'anic perspective and examining whether prophecies manifest through explicit names or descriptive signs, while drawing comparisons to the prophecies concerning Jesus Christ. The book then transitions into its first core theme to investigate the lineage of the "awaited prophet" originating from Prophet Abraham as the common father. Here, the author thoroughly refutes objections regarding the inclusion of Ishmael in God's covenant with Abraham, examines the narrative behind the departure of Hagar and Ishmael, and conducts a precise comparative analysis between the Islamic and biblical versions to confirm the lineage of the awaited prophet through the branch of Ishmael. In the second section, the book analyzes texts that specify distinct attributes of this awaited prophet, most notably the prophecy of a prophet arising from among "the brethren of the Israelites" (the Ishmaelites), the famous prophecy of a prophet who would be "like unto Moses" in his law and upbringing, and the textual marker that God would "put His words in his mouth" which mirrors the literal, spoken nature of the Qur'anic revelation. Finally, the book weaves these textual and historical threads together in its concluding section to present a comprehensive profile, proving through logical and definitive evidence that the life, character and message of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) represent the actual and sole fulfillment of those ancient prophecies.
